Definition

A fatigue failure mode in which material response is dominated by cyclic plastic strain, occurring under relatively high strain amplitudes that produce significant inelastic deformation and lead to failure after a relatively small number of cycles; life prediction is strain‑based (e.g., Coffin‑Manson relations) rather than stress‑based.
