Definition

A theoretical framework that models human information-seeking behaviour using analogies from animal foraging: seekers evaluate information patches and navigation cues (‘information scent’) to maximize expected information gain per unit cost (time, effort). It is a descriptive decision model about how people locate, browse and decide when to leave a source.
