Definition

A paired tubular extension of the uterus (cornu uteri) in many mammals that projects laterally from the uterine body; in species with a bicornuate or bicornuate-like uterus the uterine horns commonly provide the principal intrauterine environment for embryo implantation and gestational development, especially in litter-bearing taxa.
