Definition

A set of credit intermediation activities, instruments and arranged interconnections that perform bank-like functions (funding transformation, maturity transformation, liquidity provision) outside the regulatory perimeter that applies to deposit-taking banks, often relying on market funding, securitization, or contractual vehicles and thereby creating exposures, leverage or liquidity risks not cap
