Definition

A financial-support concept defining an obligation to provide monetary or in-kind support to a spouse or child. It determines amounts and duration using defined income inputs, allocations, and adjustment rules. It does not excuse nonpayment absent a valid modification and does not permit retroactive changes beyond permitted effective dates.
