Definition

A technique for finding a particular solution of a linear ordinary differential equation with constant coefficients by positing a trial solution (ansatz) composed of a linear combination of functions from a closed family (polynomials, exponentials, sines/cosines) with unknown coefficients, then determining those coefficients by substitution.
