Definition

Glycemic Load (GL) quantifies the estimated blood‑glucose‑raising effect of a specified serving of a food by combining the food’s Glycemic Index (GI) with the amount of available (digestible) carbohydrate in that serving, calculated as GL = (GI × grams of available carbohydrate per serving) / 100.
