Definition

A numerical technique that approximates solutions to boundary value problems (typically PDEs) by subdividing a spatial domain into discrete finite elements, representing unknown fields with local shape functions, deriving element equations from a variational or weak form, assembling a global algebraic system, and solving for nodal values to obtain approximate field distributions and derived quanti
