Definition

Two quantitative statements that relate the amount of chemical change at an electrode to the quantity of electric charge passed: (1) the mass of substance deposited or liberated at an electrode is directly proportional to the total electric charge passed; (2) for a given charge, masses of different substances deposited are proportional to their chemical equivalents (molar mass divided by number of
