A transition‑state theory expression relating a reaction's rate constant k to temperature and the Gibbs free energy of activation ΔG‡: k = κ (k_B T / h) · exp(−ΔG‡/(R T)), where k_B is Boltzmann's constant, h is Planck's constant, κ is the transmission coefficient (often ≈1 under the theory's assumptions), and ΔG‡ = ΔH‡ − TΔS‡ is the free energy barrier.
