Eine analytische Oberschranke, die die maximale Größe einer partielle Summe eines nicht-prinzipalen Dirichlet-Charakters modulo q kontrolliert, üblicherweise formuliert als S(χ;N):=|∑_{n=1}^N χ(n)| = O(√q log q) gleichmäßig in N für jeden nicht-prinzipalen Charakter χ (implizite Konstanten je nach Konvention).
