Definition

Eine ganzzahlige topologische Invariante, die einer zweidimensionalen Bande oder einem Faserbündel zugeordnet ist: sie ist das Integral (erste Chernklasse) der Berry-Krümmung über eine geschlossene Parameterfläche wie die Brillouin-Zone und zählt die Nettowindung bzw. Vortizität der Bandstruktur.
