Definition

A theory and set of methods for acquiring and reconstructing signals that are sparse or compressible in a known basis: given linear measurements y = Φx (Φ an m×N sensing matrix) with m ≪ N, the original signal x can be recovered (exactly or approximately) by exploiting sparsity in a transform domain, typically via convex optimization (ℓ1 minimization), greedy algorithms, or Bayesian inference, pro
