Definition

An aqueduct is an engineered structure or conduit—open channel, bridge, tunnel or closed pipe—designed to convey water from a source to a place of use or storage, typically relying on controlled gradient, flow regulation and maintenance; the term covers both short irrigation channels and long-distance supply works depending on context.
